Volt Concept Service For Electric Cars Recharging

Last year, Amazon patented an unmanned flying drone to recharge electric vehicles that can’t hold on to the nearest charging station. At the same time, American developers confined themselves to schematic images describing the charging process and didn’t pay enough attention to the design of such drone. To correct this situation, the Korean designer decided to post his version of a similar device on Behance website.

Recall that Amazon offered a fairly complex system, in which an electric car must be equipped with a special docking station on the roof, to which the drone will land directly on the move. The Korean specialist decided not to bother and suggested a much simpler from a constructive point of view option, in which a drone lands next to a standing electric car, after which its owner independently extracts the charging cable from the bass drum and connects it to the charging connector.

Volt itself is a classic drone, the entire body of which is filled with batteries with a total capacity of 3 kWh. The minimum capacity of the concept battery is explained by the fact that it’s positioned as a means of recharging, allowing access to the nearest stationary station, rather than a “flying electric station” capable of electric vehicle charging by 100%.

The accumulators necessary for the flight of the drone are allocated in separate blocks in order to avoid a situation in which it can’t return to its own base. Also, Volt drone is equipped with cameras on the front and back panels of the case, which allow it to maneuver, avoid obstacles and land on a safe landing.

In addition, the author of Volt concept proposed to call a drone using a mobile application in which you can see the next charging drones, call up a suitable one and even pay for recharging with a credit card. This project is unlikely to turn into a commercial device, but the problem solved with its help looks quite urgent, so that a similar solution is offered by one of the major players.
